These locals have been doing exactly that their whole lives.
Lately I’ve seen lots of videos going around stating that you’ll struggle to ‘live’ in Thailand for less than $1000 even $2000. Most of them say you can but with a much lower quality lifestyle… Like they had a brand new modern spacious condo with amenities such as gyms, swimming pools and even indoor golf simulators back in the west. These are luxuries for even westerners so expect to pay premium prices.
But to answer the question, yes you can live in Thailand for less than $1000 and still have ‘good’ quality of living and be able to have an enjoyable time and appreciate Thailand for what it is. Being immersive into Thai culture will reward you far greater than any indoor golf simulator on your 40th floor condo overlooking the capital city.
