Recently we’ve noticed a lot of Thailand based creators/influencers making videos with titles along the lines of ‘Thailand is getting expensive’ or ‘Thailand is no longer cheap’, without realising that every country’s prices have risen, Thailand included. The local vendors here in Thailand try their best to keep prices low for everyone without sometimes realising that they are actually making a loss.
In this video we break down the costs of making Thailand’s most popular dish, Pad Grapow. This is how much it costs local vendors and restaurants to make a single dish. Not including labour costs, petrol, gas, electric, water, packaging etc… there’s a lot of hidden costs that don’t get factored into the price and often vendors go out of business because they don’t realise that they’re actually making a loss.
Just food for thought, we’d like to hear your opinions on this. We still believe that pound for pound Thailand has some of the best food in the world at very affordable prices especially for someone coming here with western currency.
