Today we share with you our first experience of the Annual Elephant Round Up here in Surin. The Surin Elephant Round-up isย a cultural festival held every year in Surin Province, Isaan, Thailand. Usually the event is organized during the third week of November on the weekend. The festival honors the elephant, which is considered a royal animal in Thailand.
The town is layed out with a 500m buffet where over 200 elephants gather to enjoy some delicious fruit and vegetables, it’s one of the largest elephant festivals in the world and holds a Guinness World Record for the largest buffet which involves elephants.
It was an amazing thing to witness and be a part of. From the dancers, the costumes, the music to the elephants themselves, it’s definitely a festival that you do not want to miss, and we highly recommend attending once in your lifetime!
